DNA: The Most Amazing Information Storage system on earth

Every day, 50-70 billion cells in your body die. Copies of those cells, however, are constantly being made at the same rate. It's an extraordinarily complicated process that requires a great many steps working perfectly to

gether.

The key is DNA, the miraculous information storage and replication system that directs your formation from a single egg and sperm to an adult with over 30 TRILLION cells all synchronized to enable you to function.

So how old are you? Well, some parts of your body such as your nerves don't get replaced, but the others are almost entirely replaced within a 7 year timeframe. That means that the body you have right now didn't exist 7 years ago: almost all of the 30 trillion cells have been made new. So if you are 70 years old, that means that you have, in effect, gone through about 10 bodies since you were born.

On the other hand: HOW OLD IS YOUR DNA?

Think about it. You received your DNA from your parents, who received it from your grandparents-- just as they received it from THEIR parents, grandparents, etc. This process has been going on since the very beginning of the human race. Inherent in the system are ways to create minor variables so that each human being, like each person's fingerprints, is unique. But the vital instructions encoded in your DNA to create all the amazing interconnected systems of the human body astonishingly date back to the very start of human life itself.

Here's a basic introduction to this amazing miracle of life:
